KIM SUHWA

김수화는 프랑스 몽펠리에와 한국 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 안무가이자 퍼포머다. 몸과 미디어 기술의 만남에서 발생하는 신체성(corporeality)을 탐구하며, 특히 보이지 않는 힘과 매개된 환경, 기술 시스템이 몸을 통해 어떻게 감각되고, 상상으로 확장되는지에 관심이 있다. 그의 작업은 간극(gaps), 중첩(overlaps), 글리치(glitches)가 만들어내는 상황 속에서 몸과 미디어, 환경 사이의 변화하는 관계에 주목한다.

공연 Afterbody(2024–25)를 국립현대미술관(MMCA)과 덴마크 Art Hub Copenhagen에서 발표했으며, Metahands(2022)를 Ob/Scene Festival(한국), Pixelance(2021)를 UKREP Festival(슬로베니아)에서 발표했다. 2019년 로버트 윌슨이 디렉팅한 미국 Watermill Center 국제 여름 프로그램에 선정되었고, 2023년에는 서울무용센터와 K3 Tanzplan Hamburg 국제 안무가 교류 프로그램에 참여했다. 현재 프랑스 몽펠리에 Agora – Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier의 Master EXERCE 프로그램에서 연구를 이어가고 있다.

Suhwa Kim is a choreographer and performing artist working between Montpellier, France, and Seoul, South Korea. She explores the corporeality that emerges through encounters between the body and media technologies. She is particularly interested in how invisible forces, mediated environments, and technological systems are perceived, imagined, and embodied through physical experience. Her work creates situations where gaps, overlaps, and glitches reveal changing relations between bodies, media, and their environments.

Her recent works include Afterbody(2024–25), presented at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) and Art Hub Copenhagen (Denmark); Metahands(2022), presented at Ob/Scene Festival (South Korea); and Pixelance(2021), presented at UKREP Festival (Slovenia). She was selected for the International Summer Program at The Watermill Center (USA), directed by Robert Wilson, in 2019, and for the international exchange choreographer programme between Seoul Dance Center and K3 Tanzplan Hamburg in 2023. She is currently an artist-researcher in the Master EXERCE programme at Agora – Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier.
